About this role
As a member of the Financial Planning and Analysis Group, the FP&A Co-Op will be directly involved in providing critical reporting & analysis primarily related to sales, product line margins, freight, and other ad hoc requests. This position provides business unit-level experience with exposure to all functional areas of our Sensitech organization.
Systems utilized: HFM SmartView, Epicor, Sales Cube SQL Database
Software utilized: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Busiest Times of the Rotation: Particularly busy in the first 1-2 weeks of each month assisting with month-end activities & reporting
This is a full-time Co-Op that will begin on January 8th, 2024, and run for the duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Performance Measurement:
- Gather shipment and order data daily and update projections of current month sales. Assess the validity of the projection model.
- Review each month-end data submission from reporting groups to ensure the quality of data and then update the database. Prepare and distribute reports on sales by region, customer segment, and product.
Gross Margin Analysis:
- Gather unit volume, revenue, and cost data from multiple sources and update spreadsheets. Review reports to assess information quality and identify significant changes in trends and expectations.
- Analysis looks at multiple levels – consolidated and select sub-units.
Freight expense reporting:
- Gather raw data. Assess the quality of data, correct as necessary, and update the database.
- Generate reports, review, and report significant findings.
- Provide additional analysis as requested.
Update tracking reports:
- Gather data, update databases, produce reports, identify significant differences with expectations, and distribute reports.
- Frequency varies from weekly to monthly.
- Subject matter: product sales and costs, payroll components, collections from customers, foreign exchange (FX)
Other activities:
- Improve the efficiency of reporting processes. Look for opportunities to automate tasks.
- Address ad hoc requests.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields
- 3.0 or higher GPA
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- The ability to assess financial data, interpret trends, recognize inconsistencies, and provide actionable, data-driven recommendations to our senior management team.
- Strong ability to anticipate questions and/or issues
- Solid understanding of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow)
- Passion for achieving a high degree of accuracy and ownership
- Excellent communication skills
