About this role
This internship is designed to assist with tasks associated with hardware design, documentation, and/or programming/graphics of building automation systems (BASs). Proactive communication with the project team. Occasional project site visits to inspect mechanical equipment (HVAC) and survey sites to gather information for BAS designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside engineers in the design of BAS and assist with final documentation that incorporates all changes made since issuance of the submittal.
- Assist with site-specific configuration of the WebCTRL system (using SiteBuilder).
- Assist with the programming of control algorithms and the development of graphical interfaces for building automation systems (using Eikon and ViewBuilder).
- Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with manager and internal project teams.
- Adherence to safety standards. High regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
- Adherence to ethics standards (Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics).
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
- 3.0 or higher GPA
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Team player with a positive attitude and an aptitude for problem-solving.
- Competency with Microsoft software including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Visio (other CAD software acceptable).
- Completed courses in Thermodynamics 1 & 2, Electrical Circuits, Mechanical Controls, Sustainable Design, Programming, Fluid Dynamics &/or HVAC design (or their equivalents).
- Experience or familiarity with DDC (Direct Digital Controls) or PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) theory.
- Basic understanding of the Refrigeration Cycle and its components.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, VFDs and electromechanical components such as relays and actuators.
- Experience with block programming.
- Time management skills including the ability to estimate time required to complete tasks and deliver on the committed timeline.
- Competent verbal and written communicator. Aptitude for translating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
