External Description:

  • Work from tool room schedule to ensure that production tooling and equipment is ready to meet customer requirements
  • Work within the toolroom and in the press department to ensure tools are operating at peak efficiency
  • Consistently address problems and make / implement solution to improve efficiencies, process, product flow, safety, and quality
  • Report all necessary quality, production, and safety problems to the Tooling Manager
  • Ability to establish tracking system t grade all tooling vendors from quality and delivery and document all findings in log book
  • Must have the ability to document changes to include detail prints and/or procedures to track the results of die repairs, modifications and improvements as they are made
  • Implement and drive a robust tooling preventive maintenance program within the Indianapolis facility
  • Adequately stock the tool crib with spare parts, using a computer to track stock and always organize the tool crib in a fashion to ensure available stock of tooling components
  • Responsible for quoting and purchasing replacement details, according to budget
  • Establish quarterly goals and objectives with the Tooling Manager
  • Continuous improvements will be driven by tooling cost reductions, by improving usage or lower price without sacrificing quality
  • Troubleshoot any problems that are presented during production or on the bench
  • Available for overtime and training as required
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Stamping press and/or tooling troubleshooting experience
  • Energetic, hands-on; able to drive change and continuous improvement
  • Experience applying Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with production   employees, peers and manufacturing management
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and direction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a union environment is preferred
  • Strong computer and system skills, including AutoCAD,  Microsoft Office and Solid Works
  • Must be willing to work first or second shift as well as required overtime

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree with 5+ years experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years experience
