About this role
As an Operations and Portfolio Manager (O&PM), you will work closely with the Associate Director of Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and Transformation to play a vital role in Carrier's project portfolio and strategic alignment. This role encompasses a mix of operational and strategic responsibilities aimed at advancing the maturity of project management within the organization. The O&PM will ensure that operations align with the SPM’s strategic goals and objectives. In this role, you will use your leadership, strategic planning, and operational prowess to support the SPM function in driving process improvements, standardization, and project outcomes. Your focus will be to enable Carrier to successfully implement its business and IT strategies by planning, orchestrating, and operationalizing various initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support SPM Vision: Assist in defining and implementing the mission and vision of the SPM.
- Strategic Alignment: Work closely with the SPM and senior leadership to align operational activities with the organization's strategic goals.
- Project Management: Implement and adhere to project management methodologies to support all project teams and stakeholders.
- Process Facilitation: Facilitate the planning and prioritization processes as agreed upon by leadership and governance.
- Benefits Tracking: Work with the SPM to track and realize the expected benefits defined in business cases.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and improve project management practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a liaison between SPM and other departments.
- Regularly review and evaluate opportunities to improve the project management best practices.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior leadership and key SPM stakeholders, and act as a trusted advisor.
- Support the establishment of a project management community of practice to facilitate collaboration and best-practice sharing among project managers and key SPM and PPM stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or HS Diploma with 10+ years of experience in IT and business
- 3+ years of project management or strategic portfolio management experience
Preferred Qualifications
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- Methodological Expertise: Familiarity with project management methodologies like PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2, and Agile.
- Leadership: Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
