Carrier is looking for software, electrical, mechanical, systems, and other engineering majors with demonstrated leadership ability and strong academic performance to join our competitive Carrier Engineering Leadership Program (ELP). The ELP offers new graduates an opportunity to deliver impactful contributions to strategic projects through three eight-month rotations across various Carrier business units.

Candidates selected for the program will receive front-line, hands-on, meaningful assignments designed to stretch their capabilities and accelerate their professional development. In addition to the hands-on experience, the program includes high-caliber training, mentorship, and guidance from our diverse team of Carrier executives and program alumni to build a strong and lasting global network of colleagues.

For the role of Chemical Engineer on the Advanced Materials Engineering Team, Carrier is looking for Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Chemistry major with demonstrated leadership ability and strong academic performance to join our competitive Carrier Engineering Leadership Program (ELP).

Please note: this role is part of Carrier’s Engineering Leadership Program (ELP). We are currently recruiting for the 2024 ELP Cohort to start at Carrier in June 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

The Advanced Materials Engineering (AME) group is currently seeking an engineer to assist in the application of new materials and processes to Carrier’s products.  The engineer will work with global, cross disciplinary teams to apply model-based design and verification tools and methods to develop the next generation of materials for a full range of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) equipment and systems for buildings and transport applications. Her/his main responsibilities include:

  • Exploit knowledge of material responses across varying environmental conditions to make novel material design decisions and accelerate product verification.
  • Develop methods, conduct tests, and model materials properties and degradation.
  • Work with Carrier teams and suppliers to implement new materials, processes, and designs.
  • Review materials from the field and determine relevance to materials and evaluation intent, including failure analysis.
  • Participate in program planning, reviews, and reporting, based on both model and experimental validation.

Selected candidate will be tasked with 1-2 projects to lead from concept generation through validation and implementation within time limitations.  Extensive exposure across the spectrum of material types, development timeline, characterization methodologies will be supported in addition to these pillar projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, software, electrical, systems, or other relevant engineering fields
  • To be eligible for the program, you must be a 2023 or 2024 graduate of the degree in the relevant field
  • 3.0 or higher GPA
  • A minimum of one prior internship or co-op experience in a related field
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Willing to rotate and relocate to US offices over the course of the two-year program
  • Ability to start position on Leadership Program start date in June 2024

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proactive and results-driven; thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated technical understanding and skills in general engineering, software, systems, electrical, Model-based development (MBD), chemical or mechanical
  • Preferred candidates will have educational background in basic metallic and non-metallic materials properties and characterization
  • Chemistry background and experience, with instrumentation and analytical experience preferred.
  • Strong laboratory experience, organizational skills and a hands-on attitude
  • Excellent communications skills are needed to provide oral and written reports to internal and external customers
  • Self-motivated, willing to work on a variety of projects, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with finite element modeling tools and CAD packages beneficial
  • Capable of working in a team-oriented environment across a multi-cultural global organization.
