The position is focused on design, integration and qualification of refrigeration systems which include power supply, power conversion as well as electronic controls systems.
About this role:
Carrier has an exciting opportunity for a Electrical-Mechanical Systems Integration Engineer to join its Carrier Truck & Trailer Engineering team located in Syracuse, NY. Our team is providing game changing solutions to make Carrier’s truck and trailer transportation refrigeration units sustainable and efficient. Our products are undergoing a radical transformation into fully electric, intelligent refrigeration systems that are more efficient and reliable. We design, develop, and support systems with a high degree of interaction between refrigeration and flexible power supply. We are continuously adopting new development technologies and capabilities to deliver advanced solutions for a safe and sustainable cold chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in a team defining and representing the structure of a refrigeration system integrating electrical and control subsystems
- Help defining and documenting the interface between mechanical and structural components and the electrical system
- Help with identifying business requirements (performance, reliability, and cost) and desired outcomes of integrating refrigeration and electrical subsystems. This includes the evaluation of system tradeoffs and integration opportunities
- Specify requirements for operation of a fully electric refrigeration systems including coordination logic between refrigeration and electrical subsystems
- Specify power supply requirements to guarantee adequate and efficient operation of the refrigeration system, including peak loads during transient operation
- Use modeling and design tools, perform analytical calculations, verify, and test on lab prototypes and proof of concepts
- Troubleshoot problems on existing products, engage in root cause analysis activities
- Collaborate effectively with the Electrical and Controls Engineering team
