Carrier’s Technology & Components Compression Technology team has a unique opportunity for a driven and self-directed sustaining product engineer with ability to sustain Carrier’s compression product lines in centrifugal high speed rotating equipment and screw positive displacement compression. The position is based in Charlotte NC and will collaborate with resources and stakeholders globally.

Looking for a Mechanical Engineer. Conducts product development activities and studies, executes and analyzes tests, and produces parts, designs, or sketches, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in product development activities including engineering studies, feasibility studies, cost estimates, implementation of standard and non-standard specifications, drawing board layout and interpretation, and development of performance or maintenance requirements
  • Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives
  • Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs
  • Work toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes
  • Test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects
  • Produce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests

Role Purpose:

  • Support new product introduction
  • Identify cost reduction and quality improvement opportunities
  • Troubleshoot quality and compressor performance issues. Carryout root cause analysis
  • Support manufacturing and supply chain to resolve component deviations


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree
  • 1+ years experience in the design of mechanical equipment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge obtained through a University degree, combined with experience
  • Practical knowledge of Carrier organization, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work
