Experienced Controls Manufacturing Engineer. Analyzes operations information and makes changes to procedures/processes/equipment as needed to solve problems or improve efficiency.  Vital role in designing new controls to improve equipment efficiency and reduced unplanned downtime.

 Troubleshoot control systems used in manufacturing operations.  This is an opportunity for a self-starter that does not require a high level of supervision.

Looking for a seasoned professional in Manufacturing Engineering who works independently and in collaboration with other manufacturing design personnel. Analyzes designs and develops component layouts. Coordinates and implements sequence of operations, and product updates and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with production, manufacturing engineering, and maintenance to achieve operational goals
  • Activities involve troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems; research, development, design, testing, and building electromechanical systems and controls.
  • Implement process improvement/development utilizing lean principles
  • Provide technical support during the installation of new equipment, modification of existing equipment plus repair and maintenance of equipment, as well as sustainability
  • Perform problem-solving, troubleshooting, and relentless root cause analysis on all equipment breakdowns to improve reliability
  • Utilize the Carrier Excellence (Lean Six Sigma) operating system to propose and implement changes to existing processes to streamline and improve overall performance while maintaining cost controls and creating cost-effective use of resources

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years programming experience Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLC’s & HMI’s
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience with troubleshooting involving electrical, controls, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.  This includes programming variable frequency drives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and draw electrical schematics
  • Be comfortable knowing what you don’t know and be able to ask for help from more experienced engineers or other personnel with direct subject matter knowledge
  • Knowledge of NEC Electrical Code, NFPA guidelines, OSHA Press safety, Safety PLC Standards (Class I Div. III)
  • Solid understanding of lean principles to effectively create, implement and monitor process improvement initiatives
  • Experience with the installation, modification, and troubleshooting of shop floor equipment (conveyors and metal stamping presses) and directing equipment repair and recommended maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills: candidate must be comfortable providing briefings to colleagues in person and via Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner
  • Understanding of Variable Frequency Devices (VFDs), encoders, servo, network/Ethernet controls
  • AutoCAD or another popular CAD package
