About This Role

Work as a member of the World Headquarters Center for Intelligent Buildings (CIB), Facilities team, focusing on the technologies used to operate and integrate a variety of building systems. The Center for Intelligent Buildings is a first-of-its-kind technology, innovation and collaboration center showcasing Carrier’s products and integrated systems.

The building, located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, features solutions and interactive displays from our brands, bringing to life all the ways we’re building possible around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary ownership of the WebCTRL Building Management System (BMS)
    • Manage all aspects of the WebCTRL Server, including server configuration, system updates, and certificate renewals.
    • Modify control programs and View files (graphics) to fix bugs and improve system performance. Add features that make the BMS more user-friendly, and a more effective trouble-shooting tool.
    • SME pertaining to all hardware, software, and network communication systems that comprise the HVAC control system. Work with Building Maintenance personnel when advanced operation or troubleshooting is required.
    • Manage and maintain all BMS system integrations.
  • Primary ownership of the Fifth light Lighting Management System (LMS)
    • Manage LMS configurations for Scheduling, Motion-triggered Occupancy, and Daylight Harvesting to achieve the desired operation.
    • SME pertaining to all hardware, software, and network communication systems that comprise the lighting control system. Work with Building Maintenance personnel when advanced operation or troubleshooting is required.
  • Primary ownership of the sun shielding devices (Sage Glass and Sunshades)
    • Manage two automated systems designed to minimize sun glare and maximize sun harvesting across the facilities windows.
  • Support “Healthy Building” proof-of-concept (POC) projects.
    • Evaluate technical specifications of POC products; determine power, network, and installation requirements.
    • Ensure POCs successfully cooperate with existing building systems, and do not disrupt daily operations or data flows.
  • Support Physical Security “BIC” technology.
    • Work with Lenel partner to troubleshoot any communication loss, troubles, or programming changes for systems integral to building physical security. 
  • Represent CIB building systems in discussions and activities concerning IT infrastructure.
    • Monitor planned network changes by IT; assess the impact these changes may have on building systems.
    • Owner/primary contact with building system servers managed by Infosys.
  • Assist with the CIB Building Operations as needed. 
  • Manage technical upgrades or projects including replacements as needed. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree and 10+ Years’ with Systems/Software Engineering experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years' experience with Systems/Software Engineering experience.
  • 2+ Years’ of experience with building control system concepts, standards, and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the WebCTRL BMS application, including WebCTRL Server, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, and Add-ons.
  • Good understanding of RS-485 serial communications, and basic IP networking fundamentals.
  • Solid understanding of the BACnet protocol. Versed in BACnet objects, properties, subscriptions, and BBMD.
  • Able to read and interpret standard building MEP drawings.
  • Working knowledge in electronics ranging from power electronics to microelectronics. Able to read and interpret electrical schematics and understand circuitry. Able to use electronic test equipment like multimeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of software programming and programming concepts. At least a working knowledge of HTML, HTTP, JavaScript, and general scripting.
  • Able to effectively interact with others, be a team player, and share knowledge freely. Able to mentor those needing a deeper understanding of the technologies within this scope of work.
  • Strong desire to troubleshoot unidentified system challenges that arise with the use of new software or proof of concepts.
