About this role
As part of its separation from Carrier, the Commercial and Residential Fire business is building its Information Technology (IT) department. This presents an excellent opportunity for a motivated and strategic thinker to assume the Director of Enterprise Applications role within the IT organization. This role represents the opportunity to help build and shape the future of our Enterprise Applications function. While reporting directly to the head of Information Technology, this person will work with all members of IT to help solve issues and create true value for the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Sets the mission, vision, and strategy of the Enterprise Applications organization to maximize the success of business and IT enterprise initiatives.
- Establish a comprehensive strategy for enterprise applications aligned with business goals. Maintain and promote the application strategic roadmap.
- Provides strategic guidance for the entire lifecycle of IT systems, seeking efficiencies through common solutions and shared platforms.
- Drive innovation and oversee the implementation of large application initiatives. Manage multiple projects simultaneously for digital advancement.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders to leverage applications for creating value. Regularly assess stakeholder satisfaction with applications, share findings, and take action to enhance satisfaction levels.
- Manage the enterprise applications portfolio to meet present and future business needs. Assess and prioritize projects based on strategic fit, investment return, and risk. Continuously analyze the portfolio for buy-build-customize decisions and system enhancements like modernization, integration, automation, and rationalization.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with key vendors, understanding their roadmaps to align with our business goals, and work with IT sourcing for strong negotiation positions.
- Collaborate with governance teams to ensure applications meet legal and industry standards, and manage risks associated with applications and databases.
- Oversee the budget for enterprise applications, focusing on resource optimization and cost efficiency.
- Lead a team of IT professionals towards high performance. Encourage a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise applications. Adopt best practices for application lifecycle management and manage master data effectively across applications.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors’ Degree
- 12+ years of experience in IT or a relevant business/industry sector.
- 5+ years of experience leading diverse teams, including co-located and remote groups.
- 5+ years of leadership responsibilities, including strategy, and team development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field
- Proven track record of leading digital transformation initiatives and implementing large-scale IT projects.
- Extensive experience with ERP, CRM, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Analytics, and other business-critical applications.
- Demonstrated success in vendor and stakeholder management.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Creative thinker with a knack for diagnosing issues and crafting effective solutions.
