About this role
This position is for a Logistics technician who is under direct supervision. Prepares necessary shipping documentation. Responds to basic to fairly complex customer or shipper questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services. Uses standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide routing information and issue shipping instructions to ensure deliveries arrive on time and to their correct location.
- Be responsible for the preparation of quotes for customers, which will involve examining products or materials to estimate quantities or weight and type of container required for storage or transport.
- Analyze data and prepare reports reflecting findings and advise on strategic direction in relation to your role.
- Prepare paperwork for shipping and receiving team members to ensure correct product is located/ loaded/ and stocked properly
- Handle activities throughout the order fulfilment and transportation cycle to make sure established deadlines are met
- Partner with planning, warehouse, scheduling and customer services departments
- Visualize, facilitate, optimize, and lead the full order cycle from start to finish
- Support key players such as suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, and customers
- Track quality, quantity, stock, transport routing guide, delivery timelines, and productivity
- Assist Team leads to monitor warehouse/shipment activity, productivity, accuracy and safety standards
- Identify process improvements opportunities and lead continuous improvement activities within the shipping team and including other support teams.
- Manage the implementation of new tools and resources to improve the overall efficiency of the shipping processes.
- Address any problems or complaints that may arise quickly and amicably
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years experience as a shipping coordinator and coordinating trucks coming in-bound/out-bound
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree is preferred
- 2-year post high school training with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience preferred
- Experience in traffic control/ distribution activities
- Have strong organizational, communication, partnership, and social skills.
- Practice strong relationship skills with the ability to work across a broad range of job levels
