About This Role

The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for managing the payroll processes for all hourly employees within the Indianapolis manufacturing plant. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with the Union contract and labor laws, and maintaining payroll records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for hourly employees, ensuring accuracy in timekeeping, and deductions.

  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in status.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Perform reconciliation of payroll.

  • Assist in the preparation of payroll-related reports and audits as needed.

  • Assist with off cycle payroll runs for the facility.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, benefits and research/resolve discrepancies.

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee information and resolve discrepancies.

  • Maintain data on payroll metrics to drive improvement in payroll processing.

  • Stay current on payroll regulations and best practices to recommend process improvements.

  • Perform other payroll-related duties as may be assigned.

  • Able to work at least one split shift per week to assist with any 2nd shift payroll questions.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 2+ years of experience in hourly payroll processing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

  • Payroll processing experience in a unionized manufacturing environment

  • Strong knowledge of Kronos or a related timekeeping program

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products particularly Excel

  • Familiarity with labor laws and regulations related to payroll

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
