About This Role
We are seeking a motivated, results-oriented professional to join our Indianapolis facility’s Environmental Health & Safety team. As our site transforms into a furnace center of excellence with a focus on innovation, customer experience, and talent, you will have the opportunity to make a direct impact through meaningful environmental and safety programs. In this role, you will oversee environmental compliance programs in a fast-paced, high-volume fabrication and assembly environment, while also supporting broader employee health and safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, interpret, recommend, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and Carrier policies
• Complete environmental reporting, track progress toward goals, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Assist in maintaining environmental permits including air, waste, and water
• Update and maintain written procedures, policies, and programs
• Coordinate and conduct EH&S training as needed
• Sustain and continuously improve the EH&S management system at the facility
• Ensure compliance with OSHA 1910 safety programs including HAZCOM, confined space, industrial hygiene, PPE, and emergency action planning
• Lead and participate in committees focused on achieving environmental goals and improving processes
• Develop and implement standard safe work practices and procedures
• Track and close out internal audit corrective and preventive action plans in a timely manner
• Collect and analyze EH&S data and report metrics and insights to leadership
• Conduct EH&S management system and compliance audits as assigned
• Partner with operations, engineering, and other functions to support plant programs and business objectives
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of three years of experience in environmental health and safety
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
• Ability to wear steel toed/composite toe shoes
Preferred Qualifications
• Five or more years of EH&S experience in manufacturing, with a focus on industrial automation and ergonomics
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal EH&S regulations
• Ability to make informed decisions quickly
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and time management skills
• Experience working with union-represented employees
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Ariba and other internal systems
