About the Role

The Advanced Manufacturing Intern will play a key role in supporting the development and integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) in a hands-on, fast-paced production environment. This position is ideal for individuals seeking real-world experience in advanced manufacturing technologies, hardware installation, and the application of Ignition software. The intern will collaborate with engineers and technicians to optimize manufacturing processes, drive digital transformation, and ensure seamless connectivity between software and hardware systems.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in advanced manufacturing technologies and digital systems integration. Hands-on engagement and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of MES systems, focusing on integration with PLCs for automated manufacturing processes.

  • Participate in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware components, including sensors, controllers, and industrial PCs.

  • Work hands-on with Ignition software to create, modify, and deploy HMI/SCADA applications for real-time monitoring and control.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test and validate system performance, ensuring robust connectivity and data integrity between MES and shop-floor devices.

  • Document system architectures, wiring diagrams, and technical procedures to support ongoing maintenance and future upgrades.

  • Support the training of production staff on new system functionalities and best practices for hardware usage.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to automated systems, MES, PLCs, and associated hardware, escalating complex problems as needed.

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all company and industry safety standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in any Engineering field.

  • Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of MES systems, PLC programming, and industrial automation concepts.

  • Experience or coursework with Ignition software and/or other HMI/SCADA platforms is highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to perform hands-on work with hardware installation, wiring, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Availability to work on-site in a manufacturing setting.

  • Ability to lift and maneuver equipment as needed for hardware installation.
