About This Role
As an Associate Director of Product Safety and Compliance within our Carrier and Fire & Security Products Group, you will develop strategies and coordinate activities related to Global Regulatory Compliance as well as develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems. You will be the liaison for Carrier with regulatory bodies such as NIOSH, NFPA, CSA, and UL. You will partner with multi-functional teams such as Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to ensure quality control inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products including NPD, which adhere to established regulatory standards. This role will be accountable for building up the functional excellence to support business objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead improvement initiatives with regards to regulatory standards.
Build relationships with certification and regulatory agencies.
Support team participation in Standard Committees.
Ensure integrity of data and compliance to all standards associated with the product.
Revise processes/procedures as related to changing regulations.
Lead audits pertained to regulatory organizations such as CSA, FM, Intertek, etc.
Act as a consultant to recommend actions to address regulatory systems and key process and customer problems.
Direct employees engaged in regulatory compliance work activities through subordinate supervisors.
Hire, train, review work, assist employees, evaluate performance, implement company rules, and recommend changes in employee status.
Coach and develop talent for career progression to minimize attrition.
Responsible for NPD execution and project management of compliance activities internally and with external parties such as UL, CSA, TUV etc.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
5+ years' leadership experience within a manufacturing and/or NPD environment
10+ years of experience in the compliance and regulatory industry
Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership experience building relationships with certification and regulatory agencies.
Lead compliance audits pertaining to regulatory organizations, such as, CSA, FM, Intertek, etc.
Experience developing and implementing strategies related to Global Regulatory Compliance.
Experience leading multi-functional teams responsible for quality control inspections and testing of materials, parts, and products.
