About this role
Senior Electrical Engineer professional with depth of knowledge in developing embedded electronic hardware designs and performing circuit analysis for commercial HVAC equipment. Directs activities in the new product design, development and integration into electronic control systems. Assist in evaluations of systems, capable of providing technical training, designs embedded electronic controls, and developing technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Drives the research, development, design, and testing of embedded electrical controls, equipment, systems, and networks to ensure that business objectives and required specifications are met.
Analyzes system requirements, capacity, cost, and customer needs to determine feasibility of project and develop system plans.
Participates in the development of implementation schedules and proposal cost budgets to ensure projects are completed on time and within established budgets.
Assist in the integration of electronic controls into systems. From prototypes to manufacturing check samples and provide recommendations for control modifications.
Oversee the implementation of new electronic/electrical equipment designs and modification and maintenance of existing designs/systems to improve operational efficiency.
Lead design responsibilities including the development and analysis of analog, digital and power circuits including 12-24 bits ADCs, 8/16/32bit µPs and µCs, graphical displays, sensors interface, AC/DC power switching, linear and switching power supplies.
Capable of working both individually and as part of a diverse team of mechanical, electrical, software and systems engineering competencies in a cohesive effort to deliver new and innovative products.
Manage small/medium product development projects from concept to delivery.
Provide design expertise in the implementation of high-speed and complex designs.
Apply knowledge of FMEA, tolerance stack up analysis, simulation, statistical methods and Design For Manufacturability techniques to improve robustness and quality of electronic designs. Mentor junior engineers to facilitate robust design.
Review technical documentation including requirements, traceability matrixes, functional specifications, FMEA, Stress Analysis, and qualification test plans.
Drive coordination and support with validation and manufacturing engineers during the New Product Introduction development process.
Engagement with the broader engineering team to support current production designs including quality improvements, cost reduction, and component obsolescence and failure analysis.
Use of root cause analysis concepts and techniques to determine failure modes of field returns that lead to continuous improvement in initiatives into our electronics.
Approximately 10-20% domestic & international travel to support program engineering and electronics manufacturing objectives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
5+ years of experience in an Electrical Engineering environment
5+ years of experience in developing Electrical Engineering circuit designs with analog digital or discreet circuitry
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Carrier organization, programs or systems to make enhancements within the job area.
Experience designing commercial HVAC electrical controls.
Designing electrical controls and experience with troubleshooting electronic control systems in the field and in the lab.
Has the ability to integrate new electronic control designs, modifications and maintenance of HVAC controls.
Strong functional knowledge of electronic components and circuits design including microprocessors, microcontrollers, op-amps, switch mode power supplies, standard digital logic ICs, and discrete semiconductors (diodes, transistors, FETS, triacs).
Knowledge of schematic capture, PCB layout and experience with high-speed design techniques.
Cadence is a plus.
Design experience with ARM controllers and processors is a plus.
Design experience with wireless communications, Wi-Fi/BLE/ radios and antennas desirable.
Experience with EMI and EMC design for robustness techniques for our globally sold products.
Understanding of high-volume electronic assembly processes to optimize manufacturing in our global manufacturing footprint.
Knowledge of design and analysis tools such PSpice is preferred.
Effective communication skills with customers, suppliers, and global team members.
Proficient with Microsoft products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
