About this role
As a Sr. Hardware Sustaining Engineer, you will work on day-to-day objectives with significant impact and be responsible for difficult, sometimes complex system and board level failure analysis and troubleshooting as well as tasks associated with the production of our HW Products, including PCB fabrication files generation for wired and wireless room/building/campus networked automation controllers for commercial use. You will be responsible for supporting product design solutions by providing feedback to HW Engineering on improving product reliability as well as on Design for Manufacturing practices and acting as HW’s engineering liaison with manufacturing, operations, quality and other.
Key Responsibilities
- Redesign Schematics and PCBs for updates and/or to improve FPY (First Pass Yield),
- Support electronic & electromechanical components qualification testing on products,
- Research, qualification, testing, debugging and failure analysis of networked electronic modules, equipment and systems
- Lead Value Engineering efforts
- Participate in engineering and manufacturing design reviews, as well as supporting field testing
- Assist Quality, Operations and Engineering with product performance and quality issues, ultimately driving corrective and preventive actions accordingly, including product redesigns
- Prepare HW Product data for factories for the purpose of scaling production
- Perform PCB Post processing and review, and generate PCB fabrication files
- Interact with bare board manufacturers and address their inquiries
Basic Qualifications
- BS degree
- 5+ years of hardware and manufacturing experience in engineering environments
- 5+ years of experience with system analysis and troubleshooting techniques with digital and analog circuits such as (DFMEA, 8D, 5-Why’s, Firshbone diagrams and root cause), and microprocessor-based control systems
Preferred Qualifications
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent
- Intermediate to advanced lab skills such as test instrumentation, soldering, wiring, and board assembly is a plus
- Familiarity with lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, digital multimeter or DMM, signal generators, amplifiers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and temp chambers, etc.
- Familiarity with typical Electronic Manufacturers’ design rules is particularly useful
- Understanding of PCB board houses’ design guidelines is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills which will assist in influencing parties within and outside of function, coordinating and disseminating information properly to others
- Familiarity with Carrier/ALC HVAC controllers will be especially helpful
