About the Role

Carrier is seeking a Software Engineer I, Mobile to support the development of the Service Technician App (STA), a mobile application used by field technicians to support residential HVAC and connected-home solutions. The application is built using a modern technology stack that includes React Native, TypeScript, shared libraries, cloud APIs, and connected-device workflows.

This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who is excited to build mobile applications, contribute to real-world customer and technician experiences, and grow their software engineering skills through mentorship and hands-on development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain mobile application features using JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Build and enhance mobile workflows using React Native.
  • Develop user interfaces and integrate APIs under established engineering standards.
  • Troubleshoot application defects, reproduce issues, and validate fixes.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD processes, and release-readiness activities.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and backend developers.
  • Apply secure coding practices, including authentication and secure local data storage.
  • Support issue investigation and resolution during U.S. business hours.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, OR completion of a coding bootcamp plus software development experience.
  • 0–2 years of software development experience, including internships, co-ops, academic projects, personal projects, or professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Experience building applications with React, React Native, or a similar frontend/mobile framework.
  • Experience integrating REST APIs or web services into an application.
  • Understanding of state management concepts such as component state, Context API, Redux, or similar patterns.
  • Ability to work during U.S. Eastern Time business hours, including regular availability during morning collaboration hours.
  • Ability to work effectively in a distributed team environment.
  • Experience contributing to mobile applications for iOS and/or Android.
  • Experience with React Native and cross-platform mobile development.
  • Knowledge of Redux Toolkit, RTK Query, or similar state management tools.
  • Familiarity with Git-based development workflows.
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest.
  • Familiarity with Xcode and Android Studio.
  • Exposure to Bluetooth, QR scanning, camera functionality, biometrics, or connected-device workflows.
  • Experience with local storage solutions such as AsyncStorage or SecureStore.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and mobile release processes.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot.

Additional Information

  • Work Arrangement: Remote within the United States.
  • Interview Requirement: Candidates must be willing to attend one onsite interview at a Carrier corporate location during the hiring process.
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

  • Team Collaboration: Must be comfortable working with globally distributed teams, including engineers located in India.
  • Development Environment: Mac-based development environment.
