External Description:

This position manages a team of intermediate to experienced professionals in Materials & Logistics, manages departmental budgets, consults on business issues, drives cost reduction activities, ensures quality control, and leads material and inventory audits. Manage and direct Distribution Center operations for multiple Carrier business units in a manner that maximizes customer service, quality, productivity, & safety through the most cost-effective means. This position reports to the Global Logistics Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide necessary vision & leadership for the distribution/logistics team including managing the local 3rd party labor relationship
  • Manage all Distribution Center operations thru the 3PL (including Inbound, Kitting, Inventory Management, Outbound, Reverse Logistics, MRO Purchasing, & Production Maintenance)
  • Leverage inclusive leadership to meet operational excellence and compliance in the following areas:
  • Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Customer Satisfaction (Fulfillment)
  • Quality
  • Cost / Productivity
  • Inventory Management
  • Cash Flow
  • Work with 3PL / Global Logistics Manager / Finance Manager to establish monthly/annual budgets for the Distribution Center 
  • Report appropriate performance metrics (for both local facility and direct reports)
  • Manage Carrier EHS program (Environmental, Safety, Hazardous Material) for the Distribution Center
  • Work with Carrier selected 3rd party supplier to manage non-production maintenance of Distribution Center facility and grounds
  • Provide leadership to driving new technologies by benchmarking other internal/external operations
  • Utilize Carrier Excellence tools to drive Simplification, Consistency, Cost Out, Customer Fulfillment, Process Efficiency, & Quality Improvements
  • Assist all areas of the business as required.
  • Knowledge of modern supply chain, distribution, and warehousing practices

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's. Degree
  • 5 + years of Logistics/Distribution/Warehousing Operations experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Oracle, SAP, JDE, or alternative ERP experience preferred
  • WMS experience in a medium to large Distribution Center preferred
  • Transportation Management System experience a plus (ie. Blujay)
  • Strong PC skills with working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint)
