Responsibilities:

  • Manage elements of product development activities including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing board layout and interpretation, and development of performance or maintenance requirements.

  • Execute tests and qualifications for systems, sub-systems, and components. Review test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.

  • Enhance commonality and optimization of products & components.

  • Test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects and the necessity of modification.

  • Produce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems, or work orders/purchase requests

  • Work with the quality clinic and related departments to support the test and verification of field issues.

  • Fully experienced with CREO (5+ years min) – CREO 4

  • Experienced with Windchill – Version 10.2 

  • Start to finish Change Management workflows and creating/modifying Windchill BOMs

  • Modify large assembly models to meet customization requirements

  • Ability to structure large assemblies utilizing top-down and skeletons

  • Design and detail a variability of the mechanical aspect of electronic control equipment to include: sheet metal, plastic, and test fixtures

  • Ensure designs meet both industry and Carrier design standards

  • Ability to create 3D models capturing design intent

  • Interfaces with manufacturing to ensure designs met the manufacturing process requirements.

  • Experience with change management and ECR/ECN processes

  • Experience with complex 3D parametric components

  • Experience with Electronics Packaging. 

  • Proven experience with complex 3D parametric modeling

  • Ability to understand and dimension casting drawings and mold drawings

  • Some ASME knowledge

  • Ability to create 2D drawings from models with manufacturability and design intent in mind

  • Ability to act quickly to changes

  • Responsible for the quality and accuracy of work and performance in meeting hardline schedule deliverables

  • Has in-depth knowledge of the discipline and design role

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology or related technical discipline with 5+ years of experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Mold flow analysis skills
  • Demonstrated creativity in new product design and preferred experience with New Product Development
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods
  • Excellent problem solving and advanced analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Well versed with industry drafting standards, like ASME Y14.5, ISO Welds, ISO Tolerance
  • Demonstrated detail orientation and superior follow-up and follow-through skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
