About this role
The Master Controls Engineer will lead the design and/or programming effort in complex building automation systems. Design will be done using Microsoft Visio/Automated Logic's Engineering Design Suite. Programming will be done using Automated Logic's WebCTRL suite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, documentation, and/or programming of building automation systems (BASs) in compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Proactive communication with project stakeholders including requests for information and technical risks and opportunities.
  • Mentorship of less experienced Application Engineers in all areas of their development.
  • Design of complete building automation systems including the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.
  • Creation, where necessary, of sequences of operation for the control of all building systems.
  • Documentation of the BAS design (submittals) and revision control of the resultant documents.
  • Site-specific configuration of the WebCTRL system (using SiteBuilder).
  • Programming of control algorithms including those that include third-party integration (using Eikon).
  • Development of graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems (using Eikon and ViewBuilder).
  • Testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
  • Functional testing (commissioning) of complex building systems such as chiller plants and large integrations.
  • Setup and execution of factory witness tests for projects which require them.
  • Final documentation of the building automation system that incorporates all changes made since issuance of the submittal.
  • Adherence to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.
  • Technical support during the selling process to ensure that sales representatives accurately address customer requirements and propose the best possible solutions.
  • Identification and communication of project opportunities and risks related to cost, time, and technical considerations.
  • Timely creation of requests for information which are clear, concise, and well written.
  • Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with manager and project stakeholders.
  • Maintenance and advisement of customer and company design and programming standards including parts and practices.
  • Adherence to safety standards. High degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction discipline
  • 10+ years' experience designing or programming with Automated Logic products.


Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
  • Possess and maintain valid and current form of government issued identification.
  • Possess and maintain the ability to report to assigned work location reliably.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 20% of average workweek, including air travel, overnight hotel stays, and unexpected travel when required.
  • Knowledge in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to HVAC/Controls.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience with Automated Logic products and engineering tools.
