About this role

The Field Supervisor is a team leader of a selected number of Field Engineers (FE). Their primary responsibility is managing and training of their direct employees, and verification of their work. They will be responsible for the mentoring of new hires into new construction field operations, as well as current FE’s. They are responsible for working with the Project Management group in coordinating timely completion of all assigned projects. Ensure the field staff has the proper knowledge to perform that work and is executing their work at or under the project specific budget. Primarily responsible for coordinating all resources, internal and external, necessary for the execution of the new construction project their FE’s are assigned to in Cora PPM.

Key Responsibilities

COMMUNICATION AND DOCUMENTATION

  • Provide necessary documentation and communication to all customer levels, sub-contractors (when necessary), and ALC Department Management as well as ensure that the appropriate members of the field operations department do so.
  • Ensure proper time utilization from timesheet collection, site visits, and daily logs in Cora PPM.
  • Follow up on all daily log collection (Cora PPM) for the Field Engineers working for you and ensure timely delivery to New Construction Administration and Project Managers.
  • Be able to utilize Cora PPM to generate reports, spreadsheets, and schedules when necessary.
  • Professionally represent Automated Logic in meetings and always be proactive in defending the company’s best interest.  Always be prepared for meetings, have the answers to questions that you know will be asked, and have the appropriate back-up personnel in attendance when necessary.
  • Lead, document, and participate in yearly and semiyearly performance reviews for all of your employees.
  • Communicate with Engineering, Graphics developers and programmers to provide feedback on quality, accuracy and standards development.

BUDGET

  • Thoroughly understand project budgets for negotiated projects that are executed by the Field Supervisor’s team.
  • Continuously monitor work being performed by FE to ensure Quality Control.   Provide continuous feedback to direct reports regarding performance, budgets and quality.  Escalate any personnel concerns and proactively manage expectations of employees.
  • Attend and actively participate in turnover meetings, Pre bid meetings and other meetings deemed important to the job.

PROJECT PLANNING AND SCHEDULING

  • Collaborate with Project Manager in maximizing execution of projects by coordinating task assignment in Cora PPM.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with Project Managers and the Branch Operations Managers to collaborate in assigning resources for all projects.
  • Provide input to the Project Manager as to when resources will be needed on the project.  This will include graphics, programming and technical checkout as required.
  • Coordinate project schedule with electrical subcontractors and other trades to maintain schedule.  Maintain continuous communications with FE’s, Project Managers, Customers and other trades to ensure consistent understanding of the project schedule.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Field Supervisor will be or become proficient on all necessary ALC programming and graphical work for their assigned projects.
  • Field Supervisor’s will continue to provide technical assistance when needed.  When workload dictates, they will be able to utilize other FE’s to meet the project schedule.

LEADERSHIP & TEAM PLAY

  • Help develop and improve company standards.
  • Develop Mentoring plans and continuously train new and current FE’s.
  • Participate in peer reviews, turnover meetings, and post mortem meetings and close out meetings as required.
  • Assist in development of training and mentoring plans.
  • Participate in and conduct interviews with potential candidates.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Attends seminars, enrolls in self-study courses, and undertakes other self-improvement measures to maintain proficiency and improve job performance.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the HVAC Industry
  • 2+ years’ experience with HVAC controls
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Field experience and an understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and ability to understand/navigate third party control systems and integrations.
  • Experience with Automated Logic and Phoenix software to include: WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, Supervision, and Accel Works.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Prefer Technical Degree
