About this role
This position is for a staff Engineering Services and Support technician who is under moderate supervision. Performs moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects. Confers with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results. Assists in orienting, training, and assigning work of technical/business support employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble testing apparatuses to support testing and development of commercial HVAC products
- Learn HVAC product certification standards
- Perform electrical and mechanical modifications to test units and components
- Fabricate and assemble testing apparatuses to support testing and development of commercial HVAC products
- Understanding of HVAC product certification standards
- Accurately record and document test data utilizing data systems and MS Office applications
- Calibrate test equipment
- Troubleshoot units or instrumentation issues
- Run performance testing on HVAC equipment according to the ASHRAE / UL standards to support the HVAC Commercial Engineering team, including setting up, instrumenting, and testing of Carrier rooftop units
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of experience with HVAC
- EPA refrigerant certification EPA608
Preferred Qualifications:
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- AA/AS degree in industrial engineering
- Experience with basic electrical wiring.(3 phase electrical experience a plus)
- Experience working with combustible and pressurized gasses.
- Experience with refrigeration cycles and components used within those cycles.
- Proficiency in brazing preferred.
- Ability to read and understand test procedures.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and consistent emails.
- Strong safety record.
- Ability to multitask and shift priorities with very short notice.
