About this role

Carrier is seeking a hardworking and hands-on CO-OP engineer to join the Fire, Security & Sensor Technologies (FSAS) team and help provide innovation and early technology development, and vetted technology options for Carrier’s businesses. The position will be in Ashland, MA USA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out literature studies.
  • Design of experiment planning and documentation.
  • Carry out lab experiments.
  • Operate analytical equipment.
  • Develop standard procedures.
  • Document and report results and perform lab maintenance under the guidance of FSAS principal investigators.

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science
  • 3.0 or higher GPA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing master’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Hands-on experience handling chemicals and performing lab experiments with little supervision.
  • Hands-on experience with operating analytical instruments such as titrator, TGA/DSC, FTIR, & GC-MS
  • Familiarity with chemistry laboratory EH&S protocols
  • Ability to design and execute experiments and present technical results.
  • Aptitude for organization, including laboratory upkeep, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Great self-task management/prioritization and documentation skills in an R&D or testing lab environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work and collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to work with vendors and external services for required testing.
  • Quality English language writing skills especially applied to technical reporting and standard operating procedure documentation.
  • Ability to work with suppliers for simple troubleshooting for analytical instruments
  • General training on Microsoft Office
