About this role
The position is located in Syracuse, NY, and will support the Carrier's central research and development as part of the Advanced Materials Engineering department. The Advanced Materials Engineering (AME) group is responsible for the development, design, and implementation of new materials technology and applications. The AME group is currently seeking a part-time intern to assist in process development, validation, and documentation. The intern will work with global, cross-disciplinary teams to baseline our process and identify opportunities to streamline.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Carrier teams and suppliers to identify opportunities to streamline processes
- Document and validate procedures and materials qualifications
- Primary focus: compressor lubricants, metal-working fluids, refrigerants, and corrosion
- Calculate estimated cost savings associated with process improvements
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Relocation is not provided for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference is being given to the candidate from Syracuse University. This internship is a partnership between Syracuse University and its career center.
- General Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
- Lab experience working with chemicals and processes, including basic laboratory equipment and analyses (titration, volumetric mixing, etc)
- Statistics and experience with Minitab or JMP software are preferred
- Excellent communications skills are needed to provide oral and written reports to internal and external customers
- Self-motivated, willing to work on a variety of projects, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Capable of working in a team-oriented environment across a multicultural global organization.
