About this role 
Carrier is a leading provider of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security systems, leading to safer, smarter, sustainable, and high-performance buildings. 

We are seeking part-time aid to join our engineering team at our R&D center located in Syracuse, NY, for 2024. If you are interested in being part of engineering the future, learn and work hands-on in our labs in Fast Prototyping, 3D Printing, Product Development, and Concurrent Design, we want to talk to you. Help us reimagine a more sustainable future in HVAC products, from the small AC window units to the large commercial systems that provide comfort control to large-scale facilities.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support Fast Prototyping activities for Proof of Concept testing of new technology in Heat Transfer systems, both hands-on in our labs and with Engineering analysis work.
  • Help identify areas of opportunity to improve designs.
  • Help test fabrication approaches and evaluate Value Propositions to develop technologies.

Required Qualifications 

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields. 
  • 3.0 or higher GPA 
  • Applicant must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident

 
Preferred Qualifications 

  • Preferred candidate to have basic software knowledge of MATLAB, statistics & CAD. C/C++ would be a plus.
  • Candidate should be familiar with Statistical Analysis methods. Experience with Minitab software is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting technical information.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated, able to work independently, organized, and follow directions well.
  • Knowledge and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment is essential for success in this position.
