About this role

Supra and Onity part of Carrier Fire & Security is recruiting for an established Senior Supplier Quality Engineer. Someone who can influence process and planning decisions with knowledge and explanations of Supplier Quality policies, practices, and procedures. This is an onsite role in Salem OR and would require 10-15% traveling.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, this role involves to:

  • Take ownership of the supplier quality program
  • Maintain processes supporting supply chain and operations escalation to engage suppliers for corrective actions and issue SCARs as required 
  • Lead as the Technical Liaison between Engineering (NPI), Supply Chain, and Operations
  • Collaborate with Engineering to resolve design risks, failures, and manufacturability issues through supplier controls 
  • Investigate and disposition nonconforming materials from production, NPI pilot builds, field failures or new supplier sourcing  
  • Lead technical reviews of new components and existing components with Supplier and Engineering
  • Follow Carrier Excellence standards for qualification and validation of changes before the production launch 
  • Complete PPAP, 8D, Root Cause Analysis (RRCA), and containment plans as needed for Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations programs 
  • Monitor supplier’s performance to Supra & Onity quality standards
  • Drive improvement plans for at-risk and probationary suppliers 
  • Provide monthly metrics and detailed reports/scorecards to leadership 
  • Periodically review, revise and implement changes to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for best practices and suitability for meeting quality needs within Supra & Onity 
  • Ensure suppliers maintain ISO 9001 certification, ongoing lean activities, and comply with Supra & Onity Carrier Excellence standards 
  • Perform on-site or remote (desktop) audits for key suppliers and probationary suppliers  
  • Perform capability assessments for suppliers to support supply chain and engineering for sourcing opportunities

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for someone to take ownership of the supplier quality [program. You will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, industrial) or Quality
  • 5 years plus of experience in electro-mechanical product manufacturing, quality assurance, supplier quality management or quality management systems 

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • Enthusiastic, collaborative team player with leadership skills and a passion for improving quality  
  • Interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate cross-functionally in a matrix organization  
  • English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly manufacturing control and quality problem-solving tools, i.e., 8D, corrective/ preventive action and FMEA  
  • In-depth understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing??) 
  • Analytical and diagnostic skills 
  • Understand and experience with statistical process control (SPC) 
  • ISO 9001 and Lean quality system knowledge
  • Certified Six Sigma Black or Green belt
