About this role
At NORESCO, Senior Project Developers direct the development of energy projects by identifying, assessing, and structuring technical and financial solutions for our customers' energy and capital improvement challenges. They have a strong understanding of a wide range of technology offerings and have the communication and business skills necessary to bridge the gap between the sales, engineering, construction management, and operations and maintenance groups.
Senior Project Developers translate customer needs into strategic and technical guidance to the development team and possesses a blend of technical, financial, contractual, and customer management skills. They communicate with Account Executives and Bid Managers within our organization and the customer’s organization to ensure a risk mitigated and customer-centric project.
This role is a critical opening in the Alternate Project Delivery Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical/financial support of sales activities including financial modeling, proposal writing and review/QC management and coordination of proposal team
- Conducts walk-throughs of customer facilities to determine project viability
- Interviews customers to determine facility needs and assess customer expectations
- Assists in the preparation of customer presentations
- Presents the business case of the project proposal for oral interviews and customer meetings
- Combines energy production and savings values, sub-contracted costs, and purchased material costs and incorporates these data into NORESCO’s financial model
- Reviews energy calculations and costs for reasonableness based on past experience, metrics, and knowledge
- Analyzes Energy Production Measures (EPM) and Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) for technical and financial viability
- Identifies EPM/ECM, project costs, production and savings risks and develops a plan and strategy to manage and mitigate these risks
- Responsible for financial sections of the proposal
- Reviews write-ups and other technical proposal sections provided by others for risk mitigation and customer pain points
- Coordinates proposal document strategy and tactics with team
- Supported by a Proposal Administrator (PA) to review, edit, and assemble the RFQs, Proposals, Preliminary Assessment and IGA/DFS documents
- Acts as a primary point of contact with the customer during project development
- Manages the proposal team, including Account Executive, Energy Engineer(s), Lighting and Water Auditor/Designer, Construction Manager, O&M, M&V Specialist, Legal and Finance
- Hosts regular conference calls to communicate strategy and tactics, review team members’ responsibilities, and progress to date against milestones.
- Coordinates and leads risk review meetings prior to proposal submission, presenting the business case for the project to Senior Management.
- Manages the PA and IGA/DFS budgets and timelines to produce project deliverables on time and within budget
- Stays engaged through Implementation and Performance phases to manage contract compliance and customer satisfaction
- Availability to travel out of state occasionally (30-40+%)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of experience in energy project development or efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Financial modeling, Pro Forma modeling, understanding energy project financials
- Strong background in energy engineering
- Understand energy efficiency and renewables
- Solid experience with customer interaction
- Excellent communication with customers and end users
- Experience going out to project sites
- Working a project from conception to fulfillment
- Come with the concepts, come back and work with energy engineers who do the designing
- Orchestrators of the deal and structure a transaction
