Carrier Marine & Offshore Systems is responsible for providing air conditioning products and systems from cruise ships to fishing boats and offshore drilling platforms to oil tankers. We are looking for a Service Sales Account Manager for our Syracuse, New York, Marine service team.

This role may sit in Syracuse, NY or Southern Florida.

Key Responsibilities

Maintaining a network of end customers

  • Builds a long term relationship with customers by maintaining active contacts, also in co-operation with suitable internal and external parties for Project Management and Sales.

  • Prepares service contracts for new and existing customers and submit them for approval to the Service Manager and/or Managing Director.

  • Signals any complaints and bottlenecks in the contacts and undertakes necessary improvement actions in the control.

  • Prepares quotations, both proactive and reactive.

  • Performs research on board ships to see if more efficiency can be achieved and provides solicited and unsolicited advice to the customer.

Realizing service sales

  • Follows, detects and analyses relevant market developments, the wishes and needs of (potential or existing) customers and identifies opportunities and capabilities for service product development, solutions or modification of existing ones.

  • Translates these sales opportunities to sales promoting activities, creates a strategy that is approved by the management to realize these plans. 

  • Provides information and negotiates terms and conditions of contract and sales in accordance with internal appointments and close contracts/orders.

  • Is responsible for accounting for all projects.

  • Implements high level control systems and chiller plant retrofits in close cooperation with Marine’s controls and modernization / retrofit team.

  • Periodically evaluates the commercial effects of the plans in the short and long term and formulates proposals to improve the sales activities.

  • Regularly visits key accounts and potential accounts

  • Draws up monthly forecasts regarding sales

Internal activities

  • Creates report and provides relevant management information to management.

  • Delivers solicited and unsolicited advice and information to the Service Manager and Managing Director with regard to policy matters.

  • Identifies gaps and bottlenecks in work processes within the department and provides advice to improve and/or solve these.

  • Takes care of the lead or carry out of relevant projects and contributes to the implementation of the results.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree.

  • 5 years of HVAC service industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 5 years of experience in maritime HVAC industry.

  • Knowledge of the Carrier products and services.

  • Knowledge of the marine market and key customers.

  • Commercial skills and good oral communication skills to maintain the network and negotiate during (customer) calls.

  • Financial insight.
