About this role 

This Co-op will support the Engineering team for the Onity business unit within the Fire & Security division of Carrier at the Salem, OR location. This group focuses on technology solutions for the Hospitality and Real Estate market segments.

Key Responsibilities 

As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op, you will gain experience to include, but is not limited to, activities and tasks listed below:

  • Validate prototypes by defining and/or implementing test plans that include environmental testing, cycle testing, and durability testing. 
  • Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
  • Improve test capabilities through automation, sensors, and software/firmware.
  • Develop mechanical drawings in AutoCAD, Creo, or other tools.  
  • Overcome difficult technical roadblocks through creativity and tenacity.
  • Continuously learn and stay current with technology and industry best practices.
  • Consult with other engineers to evaluate designs, interfaces, and test methods.
  • Provide reliable estimates of future efforts with clear identification of risks and assumptions.
  • Values quality over quantity and fosters a quality-first mindset and culture

Required Qualifications 

  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in engineering-related field   
  • 3.0 or higher GPA  
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-driven and proactive
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Team player and willing to collaborate with others on projects
