Carrier’s Digital Sales and Serve (DSS) Center of Excellence (COE) team is enabling higher quality digital commerce experiences throughout the enterprise. Our Digital Revenue Accelerator team within the DSS COE oversees all of Carrier’s global investment through the COE in the areas of eCommerce, MarTech, and SaaS. Through centralized investment in technology, talent, and business transformation the team aims to solidify Carrier’s position as a leader in the digital commerce MarTech, and subscription management spaces.
About this role
The primary role of the eCommerce Architect is to design and implement Carrier’s front-end and back-end technology stacks related to eCommerce, MarTech and SaaS business cases. This role will help shape the eCommerce and SaaS direction at Carrier that will ultimately be shared among Carrier’s global business leaders across the enterprise. In short, this person will serve as a technical liaison between the business, project team and developers/testers. This position is responsible for leading technical assessments, team structure discussions, and approaches to complex ecosystems with technologies in the area of not only eCommerce but also SaaS, MarTech and PIM. This person will provide input and help define the long-term strategy as Carrier continues to expand its digital commerce footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical liaison between the business, project team and developers/testers by effectively communicating the status of technical roadmaps with business stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a 5-year technology roadmap for Carrier Digital Commerce
- Provide leadership for eCommerce technical design functions by leading the development of standards, artifacts, and tools while also providing architecture oversight and governance.
- Develop solutions to problems via use of methodologies and software application tools, and work with Product Owners to drive product vision, manage scope and expectations.
- Lead the architecture and design of business and tech initiatives across different systems and applications - ecommerce (Browse, Cart, Checkout), Desktop Web, Mobile Web, iOS, Android, OMS, Inventory, PIM, Recurring Billing, Payment, Digital Marketing and B2B systems.
- Design modifications to existing integrations while minimizing customization, design reusable components, and elimination of redundancy in designs throughout team's environment.
- Help manage, train, and mentor engineering teams (onshore and offshore) and delivery leaders from planning through development iterations.
- Contribute to the delivery of full lifecycle eCommerce implementations from inception to rollout while leveraging internal and external resources.
- Execute proof-of-concepts on cutting edge technologies for Carrier specific use-cases
- Use deep business knowledge of eCommerce solutions to drive solution architecture and analysis engagement for major initiatives.
- Provide thought leadership at Carrier for team members across the organization with contemporary software technologies, methodologies, and practices.
- Engage and work collaboratively with the Application Managed Services team for support, incident response escalations, and tracking of team KPI’s
- Research, review and present key market trends tied to Digital Commerce to senior Digital and BU stakeholders
- Develop a standardized review process to identify code quality and code reusability per quarter
- Develop and lead integration efforts to other source and target systems
Basic Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED
- 8+ years of professional work experience in E-Commerce products and technologies with a focus on B2B and/or B2C E-Commerce strategies.
- 5+ years of experience as a technical architect
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Agile methodologies in a working environment – demand prioritization, planning, and execution to deliver software solutions.
- 5+ years of experience with commerce platforms such as Shopify or Salesforce Commerce cloud solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Salesforce certified systems architect certification
- Extensive experience in developing integrated execution plans including resources levelling, effort estimations, cross-team dependencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD principles
- Experience building solutions using Shopify Plus
- Experience integrating with Cloud/SaaS applications, APIs, SDK of packaged applications and legacy applications
- Experience working within SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
- Industrial and/or Manufacturing Industry experience working directly with Customers, Clients or Vendors.
