About the position
Responsible for all aspects of the Indy DC yard management, YMS, and supervising Yard drivers. Also including shipping, receiving, packaging and preservation, inventory control, cycle counting activities, logistics, training, planning, employee performance evaluations and problem solving in a warehouse operations environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage warehouse yard, manage YMS, and keep records and metrics.
- Lead a team of yard drivers and support team members; including but not limited to inventory, logistics, planning etc.
- Complete daily safety inspections
- Monitor yard checks and audit YMS inputs.
- Monitor yard trailer movement and radio communication.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and recommend measures to improve production.
- Partner with union leadership to quickly resolve issues and drive a high-performance culture.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and safety rules and regulations.
- Effectively manage hourly associates and achieve employee engagement objectives.
- Use Cx tools to improve production processes and correct deficiencies as they occur.
- Ensure EH&S standards and administrative procedures are followed.
- Must be able to work all shifts in a 24-hour operation with weekend overtime as required.
- Supervises the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials to ensure efficient movement of material.
- Conducts inventory control, analysis, and classification according to material management procedure to ensure effective logistics deployment.
- Prepares or directs preparation of correspondence, reports, and operations, maintenance, and safety manuals to establish the range and depth of spares, tools, and test equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years experience in logistics yard supervision and hourly employee supervision.
- 5+ years experience in a warehousing or logistics environment.
Preferred Qualifications (assets):
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Microsoft Excel knowledge / experience.
