Summary:
The selected candidate will be an experienced Delivery Operations Specialist who coordinates and supports transportation operations processes. You will be responsible for implementing solutions and process improvements to address shipment and carrier issues, ensuring the on-time delivery of both inbound and outbound shipments within the Carrier Transportation Network.


Job Description

The Delivery Operations Specialist will be the process and operational owner for identifying, sourcing, and improving performance in transportation operations for all inbound operations and outbound deliveries for designated sites.

This position supports the business requirements for both inbound and outbound transportation operations activities and events for assigned locations in the Carrier Transportation Network.  The Delivery Manager serves as the point of contact for all functions to support delivery to assigned locations.  This role will proactively resolve delivery challenges to optimize cost and service.  Additionally, this role supports transportation projects through implementation, supporting larger transportation network initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • For assigned delivery locations, this role will plan and coordinate activities supporting a complex delivery operation; including securing expedite capacity, communicating changes to carriers, customers and vendors, and maintaining high levels of service with our carriers.
  • Supports and coordinates effective execution of transportation projects and system integrations for transportation management and real time track and trace.
  • Engages providers during their onboarding with vendor platforms.
  • Communicates metric reports, status changes & improvement opportunities internally and externally.
  • Responsible for managing the entire shipment lifecycle of truckload shipments for assigned locations in the transportation network
  • Provides information, offers solutions, and drives initiatives for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Performs ongoing comparison of logistic models and costs.  Analyzes ongoing freight cost and routing optimization.  Engaged in establishing the transportation budget. 
  • Supports market readiness by analyzing current need, growth, and distribution capability to determine carrier base and meet the current and future needs of the business.
  • Engages in partnership with customer service, procurement and analytics teams; strategically align and support our transportation planning ops group.
  • Conduct carrier quarterly business reviews to review key metrics, continuous improvements, and build upon the working relationships with service providers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years experience in Supply Chain, OR College/Associate’s degree with 7 years experience in Supply Chain, OR High School / GED with 10 years experience in Supply Chain.
  • 3+ years of experience with Transportation Operations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge of transportation industry, methodology and practices
  • Demonstrated experience with building strong transportation relationships.
  • Systems experience with business intelligence, freight cost measurements, reporting, real-time visibility, and analysis for all transportation modes.
  • SAP and TMS experience.
