About This Role

The Indianapolis plant currently has an opening for a Sr. Labor Relations representative.  This position will report directly to the Associate Director, Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and interpret company policies and the collective bargaining agreement in relation to employee questions, complaints or suggestions

  • Lead second step grievance hearings and appropriate follow up actions

  • Conduct timely investigations, prepare documentation and make appropriate recommendations

  • Implement strategies and programs in partnership with the operations team that increase employee engagement for the hourly workforce

  • Deliver timely, high quality and impactful hourly employee communications

  • Utilize critical thinking skills when assessing issues; focusing on creative and fiscally responsible solutions to manage employment cost

  • Champion Carrier Excellence initiatives for the HR group at the site and fully contribute as a member of the cell

  • Proactively identify labor relations issues and themes based on key labor metrics; recommend effective solutions

  • Support manpower move process and execution

  • Provide coaching to front line supervisors regarding employee matters, contract interpretation, procedures and activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1+ years of hands on experience in the Human Resources field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business or Human Resources

  • 3+ years of exempt level Human Resources experience in a manufacturing or distribution setting

  • Ability to formulate a successful partnership with labor leadership

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and self-directed environment

  • Strong ability to manage ambiguity in investigating employee and labor relation situations

  • Knowledge of employment/labor law

  • Demonstrates analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills

  • Technical skill and ability to accurately utilize MS Office software application, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. 

  • Proven ability to influence and work effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrates discretion, able to work with sensitive and confidential materials and possess good business judgment

  • Fast learner, able to readily apply knowledge gained in one situation to others

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities

  • Strong skill and ability to communicate with a high level of professionalism, clarity, and accuracy across all levels of the organization

  • Experience in a customer service environment including skills to handle difficult and sensitive manners, while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality

  • Proven ability to deal with conflict and diffuse difficult situations

  • Capability to work on tasks where limited written procedures and protocols exist, investigating past practices and determining the best course of action

  • Superior follow-up and follow-through skills
