Role Purpose:

  • As the Solution Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing HVAC systems and solutions that help our customers modernize their facilities.  Working in a team with Commercial Service Account Managers, you will be responsible for the concept development, energy or engineering analysis and customer success.

    This role is a great fit for you excel at building relationships, have outstanding customer service and love working with cross-functional teams. This is the ideal role for those that are adept at assessing and understanding both the immediate and future needs of customers.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide Pre-sale technical and engineering support for retrofits (solutions) to the sales team.
  • Lead utility rebate discussions and be the intermediate between sales team and rebates institutions.
  • Develop HVAC systems and solutions using a combination of Carrier equipment and Controls.
  • Provide project scope development, concept development and energy or engineering analysis.
  • Expand scope of retrofit projects by estimating ROI for the customer.
  • Lead development phase including site visits, audits, energy calculations for energy based or financed retrofits.
  • Master equipment selections and support Account Managers in developing and establishing project installation budgets and preparing the sub-contractor request for quotation’s (RFQ) including scope statements; plans and milestone dates; specs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science or Art and 4+ years’ experience in HVAC contracting and/or HVAC design engineering, OR High School Diploma and 10+ years’ experience in HVAC contracting and/or HVAC design engineering.
  • 1+ year experience in technical sales.
  • 1+ year experience in energy rebate programs, utility tariffs and utility bill analysis.

Preferred Qualifications (assets):

  • Working knowledge of cost and savings studies incorporating energy conversation measures (ECM).
  • Ability to audit existing mechanical and building systems and recommend solutions to improve.
  • Understanding of construction methods/practices and ability to communicate with and direct subcontractors in an effort to obtain critical proposal information.
  • Four-year degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degree.
  • Ability to work in a highly team-oriented and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal and presentation skills to effectively develop expectations and relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage many simultaneous projects and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of sales skills and goal-orientated with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Understands the customers’ decision-making processes including the buyers and influencers.
  • Auto CAD or Visio experience; knowledge of computerized energy simulation tools a plus.
  • Understanding of building automation, sequence of operations, energy conservation strategies.
  • Proven ability to cultivate strong relationships with contractors and vendors.
