About the position
We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Transportation Logistics Specialist. This role involves providing solutions to internal and external customers regarding the mode of transport (road, ocean, air and parcel) for non-standard shipment needs; and supports business requirements for both inbound and outbound transportation including customs management. The work location could be in Charlotte (NC) or in Indianapolis (IN).
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all modes of transportation including air, ocean, parcel, and road transportation coming in and out of the USA, Mexico and Canada.
- Coordinate and execute road, air and ocean transportation, including over-dimensional road transportation and out of gauge ocean transportation to final destination together with freight forwarders and rigging partners.
- Prepare and manage transportation quotations.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure efficient and cost-effective transport solutions.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international transport regulations.
- Analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities such as routing optimization.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of transportation activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of transportation strategies and policies.
- Provide support and guidance to team members and colleagues across the organization
- Manage timely and accurate communications (Email, Phone, etc.) to internal and external customers.
Basic Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in transportation or logistics management, in at least one of the following transport modes: ocean, road, or air.
Preferred Qualifications (assets)
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field to transportation.
- Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems and software (SAP)
- Proficient with MS Office applications
- Strong ability to work in diverse, cross-functional project teams to achieve high levels of performance in a dynamic, changing environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
