About the Role
The Director, Operations Network Strategy and Program Management will support and be a program manager to the strategic decision-making process in determining whether to manufacture products in-house or procure them externally. The process will focus on cost, quality, capacity, strategic alignment, and transfer of work (TOW) requirements. This position assesses risks and opportunities, conducts detailed cost-benefit analyses working with the finance team, and presents findings to stakeholders. The role will also be a custodian of the TOW passport process and represent the network strategy team in Passport reviews.
The role has an enterprise and global focus and therefore requires working across BUs, functions and time zones. They assist in initiatives to improve operational efficiency, implement best practices for TOW, and collaborate with various departments to ensure alignment with business objectives. Additionally, they help establish and monitor Network Strategy KPIs, foster innovation, and integrate sustainability into make-or-buy and TOW decisions, ensuring the company's production and procurement strategies are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management: Ensuring the trackers and dashboard for the Network Strategy work and updated and maintained for review with the SteerCo, OLT and when required at the ELT level.
Strategic Decision-Making: Support the evaluation and decision-making process for make-or-buy scenarios, considering factors such as cost, quality, capacity, strategic alignment, and transfer of work (TOW) requirements.
Risk and Opportunity Assessment: Assess risks and opportunities associated with in-house manufacturing versus external procurement, including those related to TOW.
Cost-Benefit Analysis: Conduct detailed cost-benefit analyses to determine the most cost-effective and efficient production methods, incorporating TOW considerations.
Operational Efficiency: Assist in initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs in both in-house manufacturing and external procurement, including TOW processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including engineering, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment with overall business objectives and TOW requirements.
Performance Monitoring: Help establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of make-or-buy and TOW strategies.
Innovation and Sustainability: Foster innovation in manufacturing and procurement processes to enhance product quality, sustainability, and TOW efficiency.
Connectivity to Operations Team: Ensure seamless communication and collaboration with the operations team to align core and non-core work.
Understanding Core and Non-Core Work: Develop a deep understanding of core and non-core work to make informed decisions about in-house manufacturing versus external procurement.
BU Specific and Steerco Ownership: Take ownership of steering committee (Steerco) responsibilities to guide and oversee strategic initiatives.
Business Alignment: Ensure that all make-or-buy and TOW decisions are aligned with the overall business strategy and objectives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
10+ years’ experience in manufacturing or supply chain management
5+ years’ experience in program management
Preferred Qualifications
Consulting experience
Proven track record of supporting analysis and implementing successful strategies
Strategic Thinking: Ability to support the development and implementation of frameworks for analysis. Strong decision-making skills to navigate complex scenarios and optimize production methods.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in conducting detailed cost-benefit analyses. Ability to assess risks and opportunities associated with in-house manufacturing versus external procurement.
Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and industry best practices.
Communication and Negotiation: Excellent communication skills to convey complex analyses and recommendations to stakeholders.
