About This Role

Senior Project Developers direct the development of Carrier as a Service (CaaS) projects by identifying, assessing, and structuring technical and financial solutions that address customers’ needs.  The successful candidate for this position of Senior Project Development manager will understand a wide range of technology offerings and have the communication and business skills necessary to facilitate the integration of sales, engineering, construction management, and operations and maintenance specialists.  This position requires strategic insight, initiative, and flexibility.  The successful candidate will assume different roles in executing energy projects: project development, business development support, internal sales, project management support, and organizational strategic planning and management.  The successful candidate will possess a complementary blend of technical, financial, contractual, and customer management skills and will be able to lead and manage a team of project developers, HVAC and energy engineers, and other subject matter experts toward the common goal of developing, designing, and executing successful CaaS projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the CaaS team in the continued development of the CaaS offering and related business offerings.  Adapt conventional performance contracting methods and tools to the service of CaaS and related business offerings.  Where lacking a go-by, template, example, or precedent, invent something that serves the purpose or supports the mission.  Be open to team members who do the same and, when novel ideas have merit, be receptive, flexible, and supportive.
  • Lead and manage a team or teams of project developers and engineers.
  • Train, mentor, and develop staff to build a resilient organization.
  • Develop, design, and engineer HVAC, energy, and infrastructure systems.
  • Plan, execute, and manage system, building, and facility technical audits.
  • Lead, manage, or assist technical development of partner or subcontractor bid packages and requests for qualifications.
  • Lead, manage, or assist development of bids for design-build construction and long-term service offerings.
  • Create and manage project development budgets, schedules, and products.
  • Develop cost and savings estimates for desktop analyses, preliminary studies, and investment grade audits.
  • Develop, adapt, refine, and run quantitative models for design-build and long-term service estimates, to degrees of accuracy appropriate for desktop analyses, preliminary studies, and investment grade audits.
  • Plan, manage, conduct and or assist the preparation of desktop analyses, preliminary studies, investment grade audits, and project proposals.  Assist development of and coordinate proposal strategy and tactics.
  • Plan, manage, conduct and or assist the preparation of technical reports.  Review technical documents.
  • Identify project technical and financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Review technical specifications, reconcile design issues, and perform quality control.
  • Review energy-related and savings calculations and costs for accuracy.
  • Coordinate and or assist risk review tasks and supporting documentation.
  • Consult and work with internal and external SMEs, auditors, and engineers, to include subcontractors and other Carrier organizational entities.
  • Interview customers to determine needs, and present technical and business cases in support of business and project development.
  • Represent Carrier with channel partners, engineers, and construction firms, and subcontractors.
  • Present technical and commercial solutions to high-level customers, partner, and at conferences.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, depending on project or program

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in energy/infrastructure project development
  • 5+ years in energy engineering and/or energy efficiency
  • 5+ years in design-build implementation
  • 3+ years in performance contracting
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with design, engineering, construction, and service of commercial & industrial HVAC systems, as well as standard energy conservation measures
  • Familiarity with measurement and verification of technical performance
  • Familiarity with financial modeling and development of financial pro forma as well as energy project modeling and financials
  • Adept at project development budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
  • Ability to adapt existing procedures, models, techniques to novel situations
  • Ability to lead and manage diverse, multi-discipline, technical teams, in some cases where there is no direct authority over those teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with customers, partners, and end-users
