About this role
In this role you will design, document, and/or program building automation systems (BASs) in compliance with project plans and specifications. Proactive communication with project team both internal and external including requests for information (RFIs) and technical risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documentation of the BAS design (i.e. submittals) and revision control of the resultant documents.
- Site-specific configuration of the WebCTRL system (using SiteBuilder).
- Programming of control algorithms including those that include third-party integration (using Eikon).
- Development of graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems (using Eikon and ViewBuilder).
- Testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
- Final documentation of the building automation system that incorporates all changes made since issuance of the submittal.
- Adherence to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.
- Timely creation of requests for information (RFIs).
- Adherence to safety standards. High degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
- Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years’ experience in the HVAC controls industry
Preferred Qualifications:
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- 5+ years’ experience in the HVAC controls industry.
- Proficient with primary functions of BAS software and associated engineering tools (Automated Logic suite preferred).
- Competency with Microsoft software including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Understands electrical and mechanical building systems.
- Able to interpret plans (including architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints), specifications, and contract documents to deliver compliant but optimized designs.
- Able to accurately and effectively request clarifications to technical or scope information via a formal RFI process.
- Familiarity with third-party communication protocols used in building automation (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.). Able to design integrations with the same.
- Aptitude for problem solving even when troubleshooting remotely.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Possess and maintain valid and current form of government issued identification.
- Ability to report to assigned work location reliably.
- Able understand and recommend modifications to sequences of operations for the automation of building systems.
- Able to write sequences of operations for common HVAC systems and control methodologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Visio (other CAD software acceptable).
- Working knowledge of Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services.
- Understanding of Enterprise IP networks, including layout.
- Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 25lbs.
