About this Role

Carrier Corporation has an opportunity for an Associate Director, Quality for Fire & Security. This position owns the execution of Quality operational goals and plans. Sets the direction and leads resources to ensure compliance with internal and external standards. Provides guidance across the organization in the implementation of changes that drive achievement of Quality goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire and motivate staff to achieve ‘zero escape mindset’ and to foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

  • Direct the activities of the Quality operational staff to ensure that products are safe, compliant and meet or exceed customer expectations.

  • Drive quality improvements with our supply partners (raw material and OVP) through KPI monitoring, audits and execution of supplier development projects.

  • Monitoring and analysis of key operational quality metrics such as Warranty PPM, FPY, scrap and COPQ.

  • Implement on tactical level the Carrier quality strategy and operational goals such as APQP, Quality Clinic, QMS Assessment (ZEA), Process Certification, PPAP for critical components, materials and processes and Product and supplier Audits.

  • Develop regional continuous improvement plan in support of regional goals and objectives and lead key initiatives in support of Carrier Excellence long range planning.

  • Develop and maintain close relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as Operations and Business Management, F&S Quality, Robust Design, Product Management and Engineering to ensure full alignment with the business.

  • Direct support of critical business needs when required

  • Develops and leads implementation of procedures and metrics that support compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

  • Directs development of processes, standards, and plans for the implementation of minimum standards and utilization of tools and methods to ensure effectiveness of existing quality processes and sustainment of quality performance improvements.

  • Directs development of recommendations for corrective actions and process re-engineering resulting from audits.

  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the manufacturing sites.

  • Mentor, coach and develop the operational quality staff as a high performing team that adds value to the business.

  • Drive year over year improvements in key operational quality metrics such as PPM, COPQ and supplier quality.

  • Promotes external best practice sharing to further improve quality assurance and compliance with recognized standards.

  • Ensure efficient implementation of Carrier quality strategy and operational goals through the application of resource-, portfolio-, project- and risk management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 8+ years of experience Process Engineering, Operations or Project Management within manufacturing facilities including depth quality, quality management system and supplier quality management experience

  • 5+ years of experience influencing others in a cross functional matrix environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Manufacturing, Science or Engineering discipline

  • Master’s degree in Science or Engineering or MBA

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification

  • Experience with data analytics

  • Carrier Excellence Associate or experience with Lean Manufacturing is preferred.

  • Proven track record of applying problem solving methodologies such as 8D, RRCA, Red X, Shainin, etc. with clear results and accomplishments.

  • Being able to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside the company as needed.

  • Proven facilitator and coach to bring focus and efficiency

  • Proven track record of highly developed leadership skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, such as training/presentation, facilitation, team building and communication.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills (English)

  • Self-starting in multiple disciplines without direct supervision.
