About This Role

Excellent opportunity for a motivated and strategic thinker to assume a Manager role within the tax organization. This role will be the tax focal point for Carrier’s tax planning activity and will regularly interface with the BU’s Finance and Business Operations and Regional Tax teams. The role will also support Carrier’s M&A activity and will be working with all corporate functions beyond tax, such as business development, finance, accounting, legal, and treasury.

The role offers an opportunity to be part of a growing tax department and assist in managing Carrier’s tax planning and strategy around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with an existing team to help manage and support Carrier’s M&A work and tax planning initiatives, including due diligence, structuring, and post-acquisition implementation strategies to reduce the company’s effective tax rate, and assist business development and other corporate functions with tax issues. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Foreign, federal, and state tax planning

  • Plan and implement strategies to reduce the company’s effective tax rate

  • Align tax optimization strategies with business objectives

  • Model and execute such strategies

  • Cross-functional teaming with business development, legal, and accounting

  • Align tax optimization strategies with business objectives

  • Model and execute such strategies

  • Support tax planning with tax modeling and data analytics

  • Advise the corporate business development, finance, and business unit teams on tax considerations of M&A deals

  • Structure buy and sell deals from a US & international tax perspective

  • Conduct due diligence or reverse due diligence on targets

  • Post-acquisition integration planning and execution

  • Partnering with the tax reporting team on the tax accounting implications of the deal

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or business

  • 5+years of M&A or international tax experience in a large multi-national, corporate tax or accounting/legal firm environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical Competencies:

  • Advanced degree (J.D., LL.M., or MST) is preferred or alternatively, a CPA

  • Tax efficient supply chain planning experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of US federal and international tax concepts, including Subchapter C, and Subchapter K, international mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, outbound transfers, Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, BEAT and foreign tax credits

  • M&A skillset specifically related to post-acquisition integration work is a plus

  • Base working knowledge of transfer pricing rules/concepts and indirect taxes (VAT, GST)

  • Tax modeling skills, IP planning, and legal entity rationalization experience is highly preferred

  • Must be a strategic thinker with strong business sense, capable of understanding the broader business and finance initiatives and their interrelation with tax

  • Needs to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functional areas of the organization beyond tax
