About This Role 

As an Electrical Engineer in the Carrier Electronics Refrigeration Controls Group, the candidate will play a key role in supporting the Embedded electronic hardware design and platform direction for the Carrier Transicold Division Transportation Refrigeration.  The candidate will support New Product Development and Sustaining projects for embedded refrigeration control systems based upon current business priorities and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Individual contributor experience in the design of embedded electronic control systems throughout a product’s entire life and continuous improvement cycles (ex. Concept, Design, Validate, Certify, Manufacture, Test, Upgrade, Sustain, Sunset)

  • Knowledge of high-volume production PCB soldering processes and electronic assembly

  • Demonstrated experience in electronic component selection, architecture selection, circuit design, analysis, simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout and BOM creation

  • Experience with Cadence or other equivalent embedded electronic design software

  • Knowledge of electronic components and circuits including microprocessors, microcontrollers, op-amps, regulators, digital logic ICs, discrete components, high power MOSFETs, protection devices, and passives

  • Design skills and experience in Analog signal conditioning and Analog to Digital Conversion (ADC) using both discrete components and integrated circuits

  • High-speed digital circuitry, bus architecture and communication ports using both discrete components and integrated circuits.

  • Safety · EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), PCB layout and mitigation techniques against Radiated and Conducted Emissions and Susceptibility to common EMC phenomena (ESD, EFT, Surge, RF Immunity, Cycle dropout, Brownout) including ESD Handling.

  • Demonstrated proficiency of electronic test equipment including but not limited to DVMs, Oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, programmable power supplies, EMC test equipment, and environmental chambers

  • Demonstrated proficiency of test plan procedure and report generation

  • Excellent oral communication as well as written documentation and presentation skills using MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering  from an ABET accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in embedded software or minor in computer science.
