We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Planning Manager to lead the planning function at a fast-paced, market-leading manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the systems, processes, and personnel that operate the inbound supply chain that supports the Indianapolis Gas Furnace manufacturing facility. The position reports to the site Senior Materials Manager and is a key function in the Operations organization .
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop key processes for the Planning function. Lead community of practice events with peers from other Carrier sites to implement best-practices and develop a robust inbound supply chain.
- Teach, guide and mentor Planning personnel to gain both functional knowledge and expand breadth cross-functionally
- Act as 1st point of escalation in key supplier relationships
- Own Load and Capacity process to validate that high-risk suppliers can meet demand. Guide development of Planners in this capability
- Maintain meaningful KPIs that provide a useful picture of performance (SQCD)
Note: The successful candidate will likely act as Planner for some key vendor relationships in addition to management responsibilities.
Key Planner Tasks:
- Work directly with Vendor contacts to ensure material is planned, transported, and delivered to meet schedule requirements
- Utilize material planning systems and tools to plan requirements, communicate schedule, generate reports, and maintain data
- Monitor forecasts to balance material availability, inventory, and cost
- Lead problem resolution with Suppliers, Purchasing, Receiving, Quality, Production Scheduling and Operations to resolve and improve supply chain issues
- Develop improvement plans where gaps in supplier performance are recognized
- Reconcile variances between material releases, receipts, and packing slips
- Participate in Continuous Improvement and Process Excellence culture to build a more robust Inbound Supply Chain
- Identify and deliver Cost Savings opportunities in support of company targets
- Lead Load and Capacity assessments at high risk vendors to validate their ability to deliver
Required Education and Experience :
- Associate degree
- 5+ years of experience in Materials Planning
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- People management experience: leading, developing, mentoring a team
- Planning experience: direct material in a high volume, fast paced, manufacturing setting
- Functional expertise in Materials Planning, exposure to in-factory Material Flow, Logistics, and Manufacturing Operations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to build win-win relationships and influence multiple levels of the organization
- Logical decision making and risk management thought process to make timely decisions using the best available information
- Data analytics, database and spreadsheet development highly valued.
