ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Gas Furnace Technician will run performance testing on HVAC equipment according to the ANSI / ASHRAE standards to support the HVAC Commercial Engineering team in Syracuse, NY. This includes setting up, instrumenting, and testing Carrier rooftop units.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fabricate and assemble testing apparatuses to support the testing and development of commercial HVAC products.
  • Accurately record and document test data utilizing data systems and databases.
  • Performs moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects.
  • Analyzes workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, or machine utilization.
  • Diagnoses test setups and equipment to resolve malfunctions.
  • Conduct moderately complex material tests and analyses.
  • Confers with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical modifications to test units and components.
  • Ability to calibrate test equipment and understand HVAC product certification standards.
  • Troubleshoot units or instrumentation issues.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of HVAC or machine shop experience
  • AA/AS degree or 2-year post-high school certification

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EPA refrigerant certification EPA608, highly preferred
  • Ability to install delicate test instrumentation.
  • Good understanding of basic electrical wiring.
  • Experience working with combustible and pressurized gasses.
  • Experience with basic hand and power tools, and other electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency in brazing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret test data.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong safety record.
  • Physical requirements: lift 50 lbs. (occasionally)
