This position is for a master Engineer Services and Support Technician who is under minimal supervision and works more independently. Conducts and/or oversees lower level support staff when working with engineers to design, develop, and implement procedures for testing systems and equipment. Conducts highly complex materials test and analysis. Serves as a resource on varied tasks.

The Psychrometric Technician will run performance testing on HVAC equipment according to the ASHRAE / UL standards to support the HVAC Commercial Engineering team in Syracuse, NY.This includes setting up, instrumenting, and testing of Carrier rooftop units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble testing apparatuses to support testing and development of commercial HVAC products
  • Learn HVAC product certification standards
  • Perform electrical and mechanical modifications to test units and components.
  • Fabricate and assemble testing apparatuses to support testing and development of commercial HVAC products
  • Understanding of HVAC product certification standards
  • Accurately record and document test data utilizing data systems and MS Office applications
  • Calibrate test equipment
  • Troubleshoot units or instrumentation issues
  • Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of engineering tasks
  • Performs complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering project
  • Conducts and/or oversees the analysis of workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, or machine utilization
  • Conducts and/or oversees the diagnosis and resolution of malfunctions for test setups and equipment
  • Conducts highly complex materials test and analysis
  • Conducts and/or oversees lower level support staff when conferring with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results
  • Conducts and/or oversees lower level support staff when working with engineers to design, develop, and implement procedures for testing systems and equipment

Required Qualifications:

High SchoolDiploma with 2 year post High School Training or Associate Degree with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a lab environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fully operate a psychrometric test room. Competent with all functions and controls,  Troubleshooting and dealing with stability and support equipment problems
  • Capable of running LabPro and room automation with minimal tech support
  • Troubleshoot LabPro and/or data acquisition and instrumentation problems.
  • Experience performing various daily tasks, including  Instrumentation, config files, VFDs, head pressure controllers, Yokogawas, CCN/NST.
  • Capable of calibrating a psychrometric test room
  • Assist mechanics with modifications to your unit and capable of perform those modifications yourself
  • Operate test unit control systems such as PIC6, SystemVu, ComfortLink.
  • United States: HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
